Anthony Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Tragic Car Crash
The British boxer Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, Nigerian authorities confirmed on Wednesday evening. The fighter was involved in a car accident outside Lagos on the 29th of December, a horrific crash that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The boxer had been under observation while recovering from minor injuries, his management team stated earlier on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was judged healthy enough to leave and heal privately.
“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two friends who passed away as they were being made ready for the journey back,” Omotosho said.
Remembering the Victims
Those who lost their lives were identified as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and deeply emotional over the tragic loss of his two dear friends.”
His release from the hospital comes as the boxing community had expressed condolences for the fighter in the following the terrible crash.
